But in the end, the assassination attempt failed: Fennec dies in a Dust explosion, Ilia defects from the organization after Blake shows her the errors of her ways, and Corsac and the Menagerie faction of the White Fang are arrested by the authorities. Adam arrived at Haven Academy and ordered the White Fang to plant explosives around the school grounds then proceeded to attempt to destroy the academy.
However, his plan failed due to the timely intervention of the Belladonna Family, Sun, and Ilia, who brought the Menagerie Faunus and the Mistral Police force as reinforcements. Seeing the other White Fang surrender, Adam Taurus ran away from the authorities while leaving his followers for dead. With Adam Taurus' retreat, the organization has now been left scattered among several smaller groups. The Belladonna Family expressed the desire to rebuild as a new organization with Ghira at the helm.
After returning to the White Fang Headquarters, other White Fang members criticized Adam over his actions at Haven, leading him to kill them in a fit of rage and begin to hunt down Blake Belladonna. He was later killed by his former partner and Yang in Argus. The White Fang recruited large numbers of disaffected Faunus, using them as soldiers in their wars. New members were recruited at faction meetings where they were inducted into the group.
As a symbol of how humanity had chosen to make monsters out of the Faunus, members of the White Fang chose to figuratively don the faces of actual monsters in the form of Grimm Masks.
This idea was started by Adam Taurus since he was the first member to wear the mask while inspiring others to do the same. In " Best Day Ever ", Emerald reveals that the White Fang was disappointed in Tukson's for abandoning the organization, suggesting that leaving the organization was punishable by death.
The White Fang has a complex division of members within its groups. Separated by location, there were at least three branches within the organization, but they all needed to comply with the orders of the organization's high leader, whose throne room was situated in Mistral.
Unfortunately, this made it easy for Adam to conspire behind Sienna's back and take over the entire White Fang. Beneath the high leader, each branch of the White Fang had a leader within them.
In the Vale Branch, Adam Taurus led the group's efforts. Branch leaders had a series of lieutenants who served as right-hand men. Additionally, they had personal advisors, who aided in the direction of the group.
Each branch leader had the freedom to do things without the approval of the high leader as Adam proved by working with Humans and attacking Beacon.
The branch in Vale was led by Adam Taurus, who took an aggressive approach to their missions due to the inhumane treatment he received while working for the Schnee Dust Company. They held rallies to recruit disillusioned Faunus and tried to physically attack Vale. Faunus were made to wear Grimm Masks like Adam himself to send a message and to hide their identities.
Adam, also against his will, teamed up with Cinder and her faction. The White Fang faction in Menagerie was led by the Albain brothers, Corsac and Fennec, who took a more manipulative approach. They had control over a group of specialized agents to whom they served as mentors. These spies specialized in stealth and, at times, assassinations. Trifa , Yuma , and Ilia were spies serving under the Albains. The High Leader also had at least four special bodyguards standing on each side of the throne in the White Fang Throne Room.
While they were meant to protect the High Leader, they were corruptible as seen when they turned on Sienna Khan and sided with Adam Taurus. Certain members such as Adam Taurus and Blake Belladonna were shown to be extremely skilled operatives with unique weaponry.
However, the movement's ordinary fighters were armed with mass-produced pistols, rifles, spears and swords and did not seem to be a match for a skilled Huntsman or Huntress. Their tactics seemed mostly limited to attempting to overwhelm their enemy with sheer numbers. However, the attempted Dust heist in "Black and White" demonstrated the degree to which the White Fang had developed as a powerful paramilitary organization. The organization's Vale cell had at least five Bullheads available, enough to transport numerous troops and several heavy containers of Dust.
Unlike the normal civilian models, at least three of these aircraft were equipped with a fast-firing cannon under the nose. Additionally, each aircraft carried a dismount squad of at least five fighters, trained in airborne assault tactics. These Bullheads were also used to transport captive Grimm and release them into enemy territory. Later, the White Fang also acquired access to Atlesian Paladin mech-suit prototypes, captured from an Atlas cargo shipment by Roman Torchwick and his associates at some point.
However, these units were all destroyed after the failed attack on Vale.
