Overall Review: I did some tests with HD Tune because newegg didn't list any deep specs on the drive. This is using it with eSATA. Cons: After a couple months or so, the drive disappeared. BIOS couldn't see it. XP couldn't see it. I tried several eSATA cables and several usb cables. Windows recognized when the usb cable was plugged in but couldn't recognize it as a drive. It was, for intents and purposes, dead.
Overall Review: Considering my options, and really wanting the data on the drive without spending money on a recovery job, I decided to void the warranty and pop the drive out to see if the drive itself worked.
I plugged it in and all was good. So now I have an internal 1tb drive with all my data safe and sound. I can live with that. It was still cheaper than buying the drive alone. I haven't seen this sort of review anywhere else, so I thought I'd just throw this out there. Overall Review: Had 2 of these drives for over 6 months now, and never had any problems with them. We also have 2 of Fantom's 1 TB external drives- they've been in use flawlessly for over a year.
The drives used for backups to take off-site, so are not running all the time. For our use, they couldn't be better- fast, reliable and compact. Pros: Tons of space, cheap price, silent operation!! I went with Fantom because I already had one of their GB drives which has been working well for me for a while now.
Overall Review: Got 2 of these, both seem to be working well so far. I haven't had these for very long yet, but they've been working well so far. I will certainly post back if anything goes wrong. After almost 2 hours of constant writing, it's warm but not hot, and I haven't heard it make noise this entire time. I would highly recommend this drive!
Great price for 1TB. This is good for power and for disk life -Simple, discrete looks -- good if you don't want anything flashy -USB and e-sata ports give you connectivity options -Hasn't failed yet!
Pros: Newegg shipping was prompt,the peanuts are a pain. I copied a 2 Gig file with the esata interface in 28 seconds, with the usb interface, the same file in 1 minute 35 seconds. Beats my seagate FreeAgent gb usb to death I cancelled the 2gb copy test after 3 minutes with the seagate. Haven't had the Fantom long, but based on results so far, highly recommended. Pros: Excellent drive. Reasonably quiet. Instantly recognized by several different comps running 3 different Windows OS.
Cons: Shadow software bundled with the drive doesn't seem to be worth anything. Can't even load it because it will not accept the serial number that is printed on the disk??
